What is it for?

A-Ret Gel 0.1% (Tretinoin) is prescribed to treat acne. It is a retinoid medication that heals pimples and prevents their apperance. Your doctor may also use it to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, rough skin, or skin discolouration.

How do you use it?

A-Ret Gel 0.1% (Tretinoin) is usually applied to the affected area once each day. Always wash your hands and the area of skin to remove any loose skin or dirt before administration. Do not use the gel close to your eyes, ears, nose, mouth, or on skin that is broken or damaged. Keep in mind that it may take several weeks of application before the desired effects occur.

Any side effects?

A-ret Gel 0.1% (Tretinoin) does not commonly cause serious side effects when used correctly. Despite this, some mild side effects may occur including peeling skin, redness, burning, or stinging sensations at the application site. Get immediate medical attention if you experience serious side effects that are intense or worrying such as crusting of the skin, swelling, hives, blisters, intense rashes, chest pain, or trouble breathing.

*Precautions*

Only use A-Ret Gel 0.1% (Tretinoin) externally to treat your symptoms. The use of lotions and cosmetics will not cause any problems, although they should not be applied at the same time as the gel. If you have sun burn, you are advised to wait until it has recovered before using the medicine to prevent irritation. Avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight or UV lamps while undergoing treatment as it may increase the sensitivity of the skin.

Do not use A-Ret Gel 0.1% (Tretinoin) if you are pregnant as it is absorbed through the skin and may harm the developing baby. It is unknown if the medication is excreted through breast milk, but you are suggested to speak to your doctor if you are breastfeeding while using the gel. Always discuss with your doctor any risks that may come along with treatment to get the safest and most effective results.
