What is it for?

Daonil (Glibenclamide IP) is prescribed to treat type 2 diabetes by stimulating the release of insulin from the pancreas. It should be used along with proper diet and exercise to control blood sugar levels. This can prevent symptoms such as fatigue, damage to the kidneys, and lower the risk of strokes or heart attacks.

How do you use it?

Your doctor will determine the correct dosage of Daonil (Glibenclamide IP) after observing your health condition and symptoms. One tablet is usually taken once or twice each day with a large glass of water. Perform regular blood tests to make sure the medicine is having the correct effects on your blood sugar level. Always take your doses at the same time each day to keep a constant amount of medicine in the system for the best results.

Any side effects?

Tell your doctor about any side effects that appear while using Daonil (Glibenclamide IP). Mild symptoms include sore muscles, nausea, blurry vision, or a mild skin rash. Contact your doctor immediately if any serious side effects that are intense or worrying appear such as faintness, severe fatigue, easy bruising, intense headache, seizure, discoloured urine or stools, jaundice, or signs of an allergic reaction (swelling, hives, severe skin rash, or trouble breathing). Adjustments will need to be made to your dosage to prevent more problems from occurring.

Never use Daonil (Glibenclamide IP) to treat type 1 diabetes, patients in a diabetic coma, or those who have reduced adrenal gland function or blood disorders. It is also suggested to avoid consuming large amounts of alcohol while undergoing treatment since this can cause delayed low blood sugar or hide the symptoms of hypoglycaemia. Discuss all the risks associated with this medication with your doctor before beginning use.

Daonil (Glibenclamide IP) is not usually prescribed during pregnancy since insulin is much more efficient for controlling blood sugar levels. Talk to your doctor if you are breastfeeding as the medicine is excreted through breast milk and may cause lowered blood sugar levels in the nursing baby.
