Hydroquinone 4% Cream 20g

What is it for?
Eukroma (Hydroquinone) is used to treat and lighten the colour of dark patches which can occur on the skin, especially the face. Dark spots on the skin are often called liver spots, age spots, melasma, chloasma, hyperpigmentation or freckles. Sometimes, they might be caused by contraceptive pills, medicine or pregnancy. This cream works by reducing the formation of the pigment in the skin (melanin) that gives it its brown colour.

How do you use it?
Eukroma (Hydroquinone) comes as a cream, which is applied straight to the skin. You only apply it to the part of skin that you need to treat. Don't apply it anywhere else, because this could cause unwanted lightening of the skin. Before you start using it, your doctor might tell you to apply a small amount of cream to the skin, and to check it for signs of serious side effects. If it's ok after 24 hours, you can use it. Otherwise, it may not be suitable for you. Usually, doctors tell their patients to apply the cream to the skin twice per day. Never apply more than your doctor tells you to apply.

Any side effects?
Eukroma (Hydroquinone) does cause side effects. The most common reaction is a mild burning or stinging sensation where the cream has been applied. The skin may also become red or dry. Tell your doctor if these side effects become serious. If you notice blisters, cracking of the skin or skin that's darker than normal, you need to stop using this cream and go and see your doctor straight away.

*Precautions*
Don't allow any Eukroma (Hydroquinone) cream to get in your eyes, nose or mouth. If this happens, make sure to flush the area affected clean with water, and go and see your doctor. Also, never use it on broken skin.

This cream can make the area of skin that has been treated much more sensitive to the sun. Remember to cover the treated area with clothing, and also, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun. You should also avoid tanning booths while treating your skin with this product.
