What is it for?
Flagyl (Metronidazole) can be used to treat a large variety of infections caused by bacteria. These may include those affecting the skin, lungs, stomach, or respiratory tract. It may also be used for cases of vaginal infections caused by bacteria.

What is it for?
Always follow your doctor’s instructions while using Flagyl (Mtronidazole). It is normally taken for one or two weeks to make sure the whole infection is destroyed. Never stop taking it before being told to do so by your doctor to prevent a return of symptoms that are stronger or more resistant to treatment. Always take your doses at the same times each day to get the best use and make administration easier to remember. If you do miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the one you missed and continue taking it normally. It is never safe to take two doses at once.

Any side effects?
Flagyl (Metronidazole) is known to cause side effects in some patients. These will not always appear and can be mild or severe. Commonly experienced problems include appetite loss, stomach aches, constipation, a metallic taste in the mouth, or headaches. More serious side effects you should tell your doctor about immediately are any numbness or tingling, severe diarrhea, fever or chills, sores in the mouth, disturbed vision, or seizures. Always tell your doctor about any other problems you experience that are intense or worry you.

Always tell your doctor if you have any hereditary blood disorders, decreased liver function, liver disease, or diseases affecting your brain or spinal cord, reduced dosages may be required. Never drink alcohol within three days of taking this medication to prevent headaches, cramps, nausea, or heart palpitations that may occur. Also note that the medicine may cause drowsiness or dizziness. Driving or operating heavy machinery is discouraged until you know how it will affect you. Even though darkening of the urine may occur, it is harmless and does not indicate a serious problem. Also note that Flagyl is excreted through breast milk so you are not advised to breast-feed while undergoing treatment.
