Fenofibrate 160mg Tablet 10

What is it for?
Lipicard (Fenofibrate) is a fibrate medicine prescribed to patients with dangerously high levels of cholesterol. It is normally used along with regular exercise and a balanced diet and operates by reducing levels of LDL or low-density lipoproteins (what is known as “bad cholesterol”), while encouraging the formation of HDL or high-density lipoproteins (“good cholesterol”). This action can reduce the chances of cardiac conditions such as heart attacks, hypertension, strokes, or heart disease. Your doctor may also suggest you use this medication along with others or for the treatment of other conditions that are not listed here.

How do you use it?
It is very important to always follow your doctor’s instructions while using Lipicard (Fenofibrate). Most doctors will suggest one tablet be taken once each day, but your directions will depend on your age, weight, current health, and how severe your symptoms are. You should swallow the tablets with a full glass of water to aid absorption. The medicine may be taken with or without food, but you should have a snack or a meal before use if you get an upset stomach. Never crush or split the tablets as this may destroy or change the effects of their contents. Always ask your doctor any questions you have about the medicine before using it to prevent any mistakes that may cause health complications.

Any side effects?
Always keep in mind that Lipicard (Fenofibrate) may cause some side effects such as:

  • Headaches
  • Runny nose or cold symptoms
  • Upset stomach
  • Mild back pain

Stop taking the medicine and contact your doctor as soon as possible if you experience serious side effects including sensitive skin, easier bruising, severe stomach pain, chest pain, coughing up blood, or unusual swelling or weight gain. Your doctor may need to adjust your dosage or how often you take the medicine to prevent more health complications. If your symptoms are severe or life threatening, your doctor may also tell you to seek emergency medical attention.

Do not take Lipicard (Fenofibrate) if you are currently pregnant, breastfeeding, attempting to conceive, lactose intolerant, allergic to nuts, if you have gall bladder disease, chronic pancreatitis, biliary cirrhosis, or reduced liver or kidney function. Also tell your doctor if you have an underactive thyroid, low albumin levels in the blood, a history of muscle diseases, or if you consume large amounts of alcohol.
